At the confluence of the Mississippi and Rush Rivers is Maiden Rock, where Lake Pepin sunsets are picture postcard-perfect. The village of 149 takes its name from the folklore and the sad tale of an Indian princess who leaped from the top of a 400-foot bluff rather than marry a man not of her choosing.
Maiden Rock offers a lakeside campground and picnic area, as well as bed-and-breakfast facilities.
