 From Bagley, follow Cty. X north to the settlement of Wyalusing where youŽll find a nice sand swimming beach along the river. Continue on Cty. X north two miles to Wyalusing State Park. Open all year, the park stands atop the high bluffs at the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers, where in 1673 Father Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet discovered the Upper Mississippi. Hike Sentinel Ridge Trail to see ancient Indian mounds, deer and wild turkeys. The park has scenic campgrounds, picnic areas and hiking trails. A marked canoe trail winds through the Mississippi River backwaters.
For your boating pleasure, the Wyalusing boat launch & parking area are being reconstructed with a completion date of July 4th, 2010.
From the park, follow Cty X to Cty C north to Hwy. 18, turn left, continue into Prairie du Chien. Hwy 18 will become Hwy 35 north as you travel on your journey on The Great River Road.
As you travel on Cty C, you will pass over the
commemorate bridge built by the state of Wisconsin to honor The Great River Road.
