Diamond Bluff is an old river town located just off the Wisconsin Great River Road on the banks of the Mississippi River. The name relates to the prominent limestone bluffs which cradle this early settlement, which served as a landmark for river pilots. An early French settler named Monte Diamond named this place Diamond Bluff.
A major river disaster occured on the river near this settlement. Today a memorial plaque, placed at Sea Wing Memorial Park in Diamond Bluff, commemorates this tragic event. The park has been developed by the residents of Diamond Bluff as a restful place for visitors to enjoy views of the Mississippi River.
The town has one of the best views of the Mississippi River as the river channel comes within a few feet of Sea Wing Memorial Park.
